Practical canine first aid

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before commitment.

Course scope, evidence, certificates and equipment should be understandable before anybody books or buys.

Courses

Which course should I choose?

Choose by responsibility: your own dog, clients’ dogs, working or security dogs, or a whole team at its own venue.

Is the training practical?

CRA routes are designed around guided practice, realistic decisions and observed skills. Exact assessment requirements will be stated on each released date.

Do I need previous experience?

The owner route is designed for beginners. Professional and working-dog pages will state any prerequisite when a date is released.

Does first aid replace a vet?

No. First aid is immediate support while veterinary advice and treatment are reached. It does not include diagnosing or prescribing.

Certificates

How long is a certificate valid?

Validity and renewal depend on the exact authorised course route. CRA will show the period before booking and on the issued certificate.

Can an employer verify a certificate?

Yes. The registry checks the unique code and returns limited public proof, including current status, without exposing the full learner record.

Is CRA NASDU approved or Ofqual regulated?

CRA does not make either claim. Individual training records and formal course approval are different; public wording is controlled by documentary evidence.

Equipment and booking

Can I buy the kits now?

The basket is available for journey testing. Payment opens only after final specifications, suppliers, stock, instructions, delivery terms, insurance and Stripe are approved.

Why are specialist bleed kits separate?

Specialist equipment must be matched to appropriate training, instructions and operational governance. It is not treated as a generic pet-kit extra.

Where are courses held?

The first public release is planned around South Yorkshire, with private team delivery and working-dog enquiries available more widely.
