01

Core supplies

Use clean dressings, gauze, conforming bandages, saline, gloves, blunt scissors, a foil blanket and your veterinary contact details as a practical starting point.

02

Check, record and replace

Inspect seals and expiry dates, replace anything used and keep the contents list visible. A kit that is incomplete or unfamiliar will slow down a response.

03

Match equipment to training

Specialist bleeding-control devices should only be carried when the responder has suitable training and clear instructions for use.

Always escalate

Contact a veterinary professional early and follow their instructions. Do not give human medicines or delay urgent veterinary care to continue a checklist.
