01

Know the extraction plan

Identify the nearest suitable veterinary practice, likely travel time, vehicle access and the point at which an exercise or deployment must stop.

02

Carry for the environment

Heat, cold, water, rough terrain and distance change what a handler may need. Review the kit against the actual task rather than relying on a generic piece count.

03

Record the handover

Note the incident time, observations, changes and first-aid actions so veterinary staff receive a concise, accurate account.

Always escalate

Contact a veterinary professional early and follow their instructions. Do not give human medicines or delay urgent veterinary care to continue a checklist.
